MiCA regulations aim to establish a unified legal framework for Cryptocurrency in the European Economic Area (EEA), promoting consumer protection and market stability. MiCA facilitates cross-border business operations under a single EU license, achieved through standardized commercial rules and clear definition of encryption assets. This approach reduces administrative burden for companies and promotes a more competitive market landscape.
MoonPay CEO Ivan Soto-Wright said:
This milestone is not only about obtaining regulatory approval, but also a significant step in consolidating the role of Crypto Assets in the global economy. We are delighted to deepen cooperation with regulatory agencies, enterprises, and users, paving the way for the future of Crypto Assets.
MoonPay intends to use this regulatory clarity to expand its dominant position in Europe and explore innovative payment solutions and digital asset use cases.
According to reports, the company is currently in talks to acquire DeFi payment service Helio Pay for about $150 million. If successful, this will be the largest acquisition for MoonPay since its establishment in 2018.
